It seems like this post touched on several raw nerves.
No, its only ugly, fat over forty men who constitute the foreign or tourist population in Cairo.
No, its not only the ugly, fat, over forty men who constitute the gay, singles community in Cairo.
There is nothing I would like more than to believe that this is the truth.
But no, its not.
There are plenty of young, successful, handsome I dare say young men who would only get involved at any level with foreigners.
And exactly the same configuration happens with foreigners. Young, successful and dare I say also handsome men who are only interested in young locals.
No, I don't think its fair that young locals should take foreigners as a priority over other Egyptians.
Whatever the nature of gay people in any given western country it is definitely without question hundred times better than Egypt.
There is no excuse to come this country and just fuck everyone senseless, because you are too "bored" of the gay scene in your country.
I am sorry I will not look too kindly on your justification.
While I shall not lay all the blame on the tourist scene, I will not absolve them from their responsibility.
My fellow countrymen should take as much of the blame.
Why should any Egyptian be less than any foreigner?
Why should it be more emotionally rewarding to be with a foreigner than it is with an Egyptian?
Have Egyptians gave up on each other and now the entire gay population in Cairo is supporting "interracial" relationships?
Does everyone think and believe that gay men in Cairo are beyond redemption? Too enmeshed in their cultural, moral and political perturbations?
Does this justify the fact that everyone who ever had a serious relationship had it with a foreigner?
And these are not people who are ugly or fat or over forty.
